Actilight ® is composed of short chain fructo-oligosaccharides also called scFOS. It is a soluble dietary fibre with a slightly sweet taste and prebiotic properties. ScFOS can be naturally found in numerous fruits and vegetables. Fructo-oligosaccharides belong to the group of fructans. After starch, fructans are the most abundant carbohydrates accumulated in plants as an energy resource. Fructans are linear chains of fructose molecules (Fn), usually terminated by a glucose molecule (GFn). These chains can vary from 3 to 200 units.
