It is effective over a broad pH range - 1.8 to 9.5 (rendered ineffective in the presence of 1% caustic). The properties make it an economical choice for cleaning formulations for metal and glass. It also has been used effectively as an agriculture adjuvant to penetrate foliage when treating crops.
