Removing oily stains
Removing oily stains from clothes can be difficult and stains remain a reason for consumers to discard and dispose of clothes. Studies with Sorez™ 100 polymer added to a powder laundry detergent shows visible cleaner fabric compared to a control detergent without polymer (figure 3). In the study, the standard polyester fabric is washed and rinsed at 38 °C with 150 ppm water hardness using a tergotometer. All fabrics are air dried and then treated with dirty motor oil before rewashing using same conditions and detergent formulations.

Soil release on a range of fabrics
Today’s clothes are made from a variety of fabric types. Cotton/polyester and polyester are increasingly common. Sorez™ 100 polymer will aid in soil removal after the initial wash with detergent or softener or treatment with spray. For example, Figure 4 shows the percent of soil release by fabric type. Soil release is measured by reflectance comparing fabric washed after staining to washed fabric with stain. Similar results were observed with other staining agents, including shoe polish, lipstick and permanent marker. Once fabric is treated with Sorez™ 100 polymer, soil release is improved in subsequent washes.
